Issues

  1. I hear you on No Crematorium in Govans! After nearly 5 years (I was a resident at the time) Councilman Mark Conway has introduce legislation to address this! https://www.baltimorebrew.com/2024/10/01/latest-effort-to-stop-the-york-road-crematorium-a-zoning-change/ Council Bill 24-0599
The bill’s hearing will be on October 29th. You can read the bill and learn more about the hearing process
    here.

2. I hear you on No Hopkins Private Police! In 2021, the repeal HB336, sponsored by Delegate Julian Ivey of Prince George’s failed in committee. Antonio Hayes, a Baltimore Senator (D-40) sponsored SB793 Only Delegates Boyce, Mosby, and Lewis voted against. The September 22 mtg. was blocked by protesters. So was the next closed virtual session September 29. Draft MOU of Hopkins Private Police partnership w/ BPD https://publicsafety.jhu.edu/assets/uploads/sites/9/2022/09/BPD-JHU-MOU-09.19.2022.pdf

3. Tenant Rights (campaign issue) – Tenant Holding Over

4. Repeal At-will (campaign issue) Baltimore delegation I would like to see legislation on this. When a resident of 44A, I spoke to Del. Pat Young and former Sen. Shirley Nathan-Pullium when I was a Baltimore county resident. Caylin Young agreed to legislation but has canceled a meeting dues to my asking about disclosures, which he called politics.

5. Curb predatory practices re: Storage facilities (particularly Public Storage but others. Sen Washington, please comment. Amending the Md. code on Self Storage practice, Bruce Bereano, a chief lobbyist for storage facilities in Annapolis.

6. Codify Abortion in MGA 2023.On the ballot in 2024 general election. Md voted 75.9% for Reproduction rights.

7. Upholding BCPSS commitment to teachers and students (campaign).

8. Protecting the health of our residents: End business with CSX in Curtis Bay and BRESCO incinerator! Senate President Bill Ferguson to FINALLY introduce legislation 2025! https://marylandmatters.org/2024/10/21/ferguson-seeks-to-remove-incinerators-from-states-renewable-energy-subsidy-program/ Rally for Curtis Bay in Annapolis Dec 7, 2024 on Lawyer’s Mall

9. Reserve the Historic Black Roland Park Water Tower.

10. Say no to Question H (Size of city council to 8 members, rejected 63.12% ) and F (Harborplace high rises, for 59.74%)! https://www.ourharborplace.com/project-updates

11. Turn old pharmacy spaces in community use. One of the latest efforts I’ve asking of our Baltimore council members and state legislators and will promote is having the old CVS in Belair-Edison be used as a community center and use the Walgreens at Harford and North to build a much needed grocery store.
